Welcome to the Mathematical Genetics and Bioinformatics Groups

The Mathematical Genetics and Bioinformatics groups are parts of the Department of Statistics, centred around South Parks Road in Oxford. We can be found in the Peter Medawar Building for Pathogen Research, and the Henry Wellcome Building for Gene Function [map]. We are a thriving and diverse group of researchers using mathematical methods to extract information from genetic data. Our interests range from fundamental evolutionary processes to the mapping of genes involved in disease.

The Mathematical Genetics Group, includes the research groups of Professor Peter Donnelly, Professor Bob Griffiths, Professor Gil McVean and Dr Jonathan Marchini and has recently been augmented by the establishment of an Experimental Laboratory located in the Oxford Centre for Gene Function. The Bioinformatics Group is lead by Professor Jotun Hein.
